Land Pollution

Land Pollution

There are many types of pollution;
  • Air Pollution
  • Water pollution
  • Land Pollution

Land pollution is the deterioration (destruction) of the earth's land surfaces, often directly or indirectly as a result of man's activities and their misuse of land resources. ... Exploitation of minerals (mining activities) has also contributed to the destruction of the earth's surface.
Sources and Causes of land pollutionLand pollution is caused by both natural factors and human activities. They are each discussed below: Natural factors: The natural factors that cause soil erosion includes volcanic eruptions, changes in rainfall pattern, earthquakes, topographic changes, wind and glacier movements.

Ways to reduce pollution in your home:
  • Buy biodegradable products.
  • Store all liquid chemicals and waste in spill-proof containers.
  • Eat organic foods that are grown without pesticides. ...
  • Don't use pesticides if you can.
  • Use a drip tray to collect engine oil.
  • Buy products that have little packaging.

Greenhouse gas. When organic material such as food scraps and green waste is put in landfill, it is generally compacted down and covered. This removes the oxygen and causes it to break down in an anaerobic process. Eventually this releases methane, a greenhouse gas that is 21 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

Soil contamination or soil pollution is caused by the presence of xenophobic (human-made) chemicals or other alteration in the natural soil environment. It is typically caused by industrial activity, agricultural chemicals, or improper disposal of waste.
